Biography

  

Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico Jesus Gonzalez has been living in the 13th  Senate District over the past ten years. Jesus has witnessed the struggle of many people had faced with on daily basis in the community. Jesus has identified the struggles of job loss, regulations on small business (including fines and penalties, over crowded hospitals, and overcrowded schools.


Jesus has made a pledge to support all local merchants on Roosevelt Avenue (and throughout the district) to help improve business, and make our streets safer. At the age of 16, (while attending high school) Jesus started serving his community in Cayey, Puerto. As the youngest volunteer fire fighter on the Island, he worked every day after school (including weekends).


He attended emergency medical technician courses; including volunteering with the national civil defense organization, where he trained for terrorism preparedness with the Puerto Rican Government. Jesus also participated in the Home Land Security readiness program in Cayey Puerto Rico, and served as the administrative coordinator for the Cayey Fire Academy. 


Upon graduation from High school, Jesus became the first member of his family to attend college. In 2005, he graduated from the Universidad del Turabo with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and a minor in Business Management and Accounting. In 2007, he received a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Administration from the Universidad del Turabo. 


Jesus currently works as the Human Resource Manager for one of the largest franchised Travel Agencies in New York City. As the Human Resource Manager he provides leadership skills that help individuals find employment, and resolves all labor relations within the company. Jesus also participates in the development of safe and fair labor practices, and creates effective employee/employer relationships. 


Jesus is running for Senate in order to improve the quality of life in New York State for all residents, and to help address the issues that have prevented small business development. Jesus promises to help identify the problems in the community by working with the activist and legal professionals of the district in order to help create progress.
